Refund and Cancellation policies:
We incur substantial cost to prepare and host scheduled classes with very limited classroom sizes; we must enforce the following refund policy:
Adult Driving Lesson No-Show Policy:
If you are scheduled for an adult driving lesson and do not give at least 24 hour notice you will be considered a no-show for your lesson and will be required to pay the no-show fee of $25.00 to your driving instructor at the time of your next driving lesson. If you need to change a driving lesson that is schedule please contact your driving instructor directly or by emailing us at or by texting 810-300-9124. Please include your name, location that you where schedule for, and the date and time. If it is on a Saturday or Sunday please text or call 810-300-9124 at least 24 hours before your scheduled driving lesson to reschedule. Our instructors do not get paid unless they are teaching or driving. So the no-show fee that you pay goes directly to them for that hour that was missed.
ROAD EXAM APPOINTMENT FEE AND REFUND POLICY:
We schedule Auto Road Tests Monday – Saturday from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. during the fall and winter months. In the spring and summer months we schedule Auto Road Test appointments from 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Appointments are made by calling 586-445-1188.
All Auto Test appointments are made over the phone. You will need a credit card to make any appointments. You are required to make a $25.00 deposit for a test with the balance to be paid to the examiner at the test sit either by cash or money order. Check are not accepted.
If you fail any portion of the road test and you schedule a new test and return fort a new test, then the fee for the second test is $50.00 weekdays and $55.00 on the weekends. If you arrive at the Road-Testing site and your vehicle fails to meet the equipment standards for the Road Test the fee for the car rental is $25.00.
If you arrive at the Road-Test Site without the necessary/required documents or your documents are unreadable or outdated the fee is $25.00.
SEGMENT 1 AND SEGMENT 2 REFUNDS AND CANCELLATION POLICY:
All cancellation refunds are subject to a cancellation fee of a minimum of $50.00 plus the additional fees charged for processing the event through our website which are anywhere from $1.33 - $15.00 depending on the cost of the services you paid for unless noted differently. We understand that unforeseen circumstances may arise that a student may want to reschedule or cancel a course. However, please understand that class sizes are limited and many restrictions from the state of Michigan currently due to the Pandemic gives us not very much flexibility. Our instructors are only paid when they are conducting sessions, If a student misses a drive lesson for any reason there will be a $25.00 no show fee that must be paid before the student can continue with any future sessions. We advise students to arrive to classes and driving sessions at least 10 minutes early. If a student is more than 5 minutes late for a behind the wheel session they will be considered a no show. If a student does not have proper shoes on to drive with high heels and flip flops are not allowed to be worn for any behind the wheel driving sessions. The student does not have proper footwear on to drive in, they will be consider a no show and have to pay a no show fee before continue anymore behind the wheel driving sessions. If a student arrives to a driving session or for a classroom session, and they are suspected to be under the Influence of any type of drugs or alcohol they will be not allow to drive or attend class. The parent or guardian will be notified and that student will forfeit any and all fees paid, and no refund will be issued. They will be removed from the rest of the course and any future courses offered with Michigan Driving School Inc. At this current time we are not offering payment plan.
You are only eligible to receive a refund if cancellation notice is given at least 72 hours or 3 full business (sat and sun are not business days) days prior to the scheduled course start date.
If a student is a no show and wants to cancel the course, they will be refunded up to 50% of total tuition paid and will then have to re-enroll in a different course.
Course Movement/Switching Classes:
Our classroom sizes are currently small and limited to a certain number of students much less then our normal classroom sizes. If you enroll in a course, please check the dates and times to make sure that your student will be able to commit to these courses. Once a class is paid for these sales are final. We do try our best to accommodate everyone as much as we can. However, it is not always possible for us to switch a student from one course to another course. If you would like to change a course that you are already enrolled in and paid for you will have to request a refund, pay a cancellation fee if it is not two full business days or 72 hours business hours (Monday-Friday) prior to the start of class, and then enroll your student in the other class, please note that if you see a current opening those spots can be taking in a matter of minutes. The website is set up so that it only allows the correct number of tickets sold for each course offered, once these course are full they will no longer allow anyone to rsvp for the course and we cannot take anymore students for that course once they close out, requirements and guidelines for covid-19 by the state of Michigan are taken very seriously and are enforced by Michigan Driving School. Everyone’s health is our top priority!
Student Cancellation for Drivers Education Classes:
If a class is missed, it must be made up during a future course. Students will be given a schedule of the next available classes offered for any class they missed. Keep in mind that during the pandemic class size are very limited so future class dates might have a waiting list. We try our best to accommodate any student the best we can in these types of situations.
"For those that require an in-person branch visit to complete their transaction, we advise that customers attempt to schedule a next-day appointment online at Michgian.gov/SOS. Next-day appointments are offered between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. and from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Morning appointments become available the previous day at 8 a.m., while afternoon appointments become available the previous day at noon.
